Blue and white is such a classic color combination. And, I think there's a reason why this duo has withstood the test of time - because they pair together so beautifully! No where is this pairing more apparent than on porcelain. Learning about the history behind these blue and white porcelain objects is fascinating. It's a history of art, but like all art history, it's so intertwined with historical events. International trade between Northern Europeans and the Far East greatly influenced this art form. The items below, except for my own, were all photographed at the Art Institute of Chicago. They have a spectacular collection of porcelain.
