the start of fall colors

Even though it is technically still summer, the colors of fall - golds, yellows, coppers - are beginning to be seen throughout the area. With a cloudless sky as a picture perfect backdrop, I headed over to the UW Arborteum to capture some of the beauty that is this time of the year.
prairie grasses
deep blues, greens and reds
sumac against the September sky
a bee hard at work
there's just something about oak trees that I love
beautiful, isn't it?
wildflowers
green and gold
milkweed - a favorite of monarch butterflies
