color therapy - pink

Pink is the color most associated with pure love and innocence. I thought it would be a welcome addition to my day, and hopefully yours, to enjoy these rosy hues.

bougainvilleas beaded with newly fallen rain

a Chinese shrine filled
with reds and pink, the softer version of red

a waterlily, perfectly pink petals -
do you see the dragonfly taking a rest?

no doubt this tractor used
to be red, but it's faded
through the years
to a warm pink

a pink rose -
is there anything quite
as pretty?
Much has been written about gender and color assignment - the standard is of course that pink is for girls, and blue is for boys. But, I recently learned that this is a relatively modern convention. Formerly, pink was the chosen color for boys as it was seen as a softer version of red - the strongest of the colors. And, blue was chosen for girls as blue is the color associated with the Virgin Mary. Apparently it was not until the 1940s that the pink/girl, blue/boy color assignments came about. Who knew?!
